Malaysians woke up to some good news this morning after discovering that Jun Hoong made a splashing performance and snagged the gold medal in the women's 10m platform individual final at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
She’s the first Malaysian ever to become the world diving champion. Congratulations, we are SO PROUD of you!
Jun Hoong's astonishing feat scored her a glorious 397.50 points which earned her the top spot and also beating out Olympic gold and silver medalist, China’s Re Qian and Si Yajie.
“My god, I’m a world champion!” she told the New Straits Times.
I hoped for a medal, but I didn’t think I could beat the Chinese divers.”
Well Jun Hoong, your effort and hard work paid off and you totally deserved to win that gold medal! The Perak lass has definitely become an inspiration to all of us.
Pandalela placed ninth out of 12 during the finals but both she and Jun Hoong managed to take home the bronze medal in the women's 10m platform synchronised event.
